Windora 2008
The Windora facility was completed in mid 2008. The facility consists of 5 triple junction dishes with a rated output of 350kW at 1000 W/m2. Ergon Energy is a Queensland Electricity power company (www.ergon.com.au). The facility was largely funded by Australian government grants.
The System is connected to diesel generators and utilizes a three inverter configuration for the five CS500-4 dishes (Mk IV dish structure). The Solar power generation is controlled by the load required by the local community and dishes are taken off sun as the load requirement decreases.
The system today is owned and operated by Ergon Energy. All maintenance of the systems is completed by Ergon company personnel. The dishes use proprietary cells developed by Solar Systems and key US cell manufacturer Spectrolab (a Boeing company).
